MARIA GA'TSAL
I am a Mexican-Spanish teaching artist based in Helsinki, Finland. My academic background, a BFA in acting (NYFA 2016), combined with subsequent experiences in both acting and dance, has given me a comprehensive understanding of stagecraft and the intricacies associated with performing both theatrically and in front of the camera - an understanding I continue to expand by remaining active as an artist and collaborating with fellow artists.
In dance, self-learning and improvisation have an important role for me as a dancer, as well as the guidance I have received (and continue to) of various dance artists, whose expertise spans from contemporary, modern dance, jazz, lyrical, to Urban Dance styles.
I teach contemporary dance and improvisation for children and adults, as well as working as a dance substitute for diverse dance styles. I facilitate acting classes for children and youth in collaboration with Helsinki City, as well as teaching acting for adults as a freelancer. I instruct movement workshops, combining dance, theater and my own personal experience with been a moving being.
As a moving being, I love swimming, Taekwondo, and traveling! I enjoy photography and hope to learn more about it.
