About

The art of musicianship and dance partnership — the art of listening to another through music, space, and dance steps.
Dance for Two was a dance presentation marking ten years of the Inkorpora Dance Project, founded by Silvia Verges. The performance wove together ballet, contemporary, Argentinian tango, and Brazilian zouk choreographies, telling one continuous story across the different styles.
Centered on the theme of connecting with another, the piece revealed its main thread as it moved between styles: the passage of time, generations, and the transmission of knowledge between dancers. I danced as one of the contemporary dancers, alongside Nina Pastel — a jazz and ballet dancer, and Pilates instructor. Each choreographic work combined recorded music with live performance, and the evening closed with a brief talk with the performing artists.
My experience
I enjoyed dancing this piece — it let me get to know Silvia Verges' work and movement language more closely, which is elegant and precise. I had the pleasure of dancing alongside Nina Pastel, who performed Silvia's contemporary piece with me. Nina is also a fantastic jazz and professional ballet dancer, and a Pilates instructor. The challenge in this piece was the synchronicity it demanded between the two of us, and the precision of its domino-effect movement sequences.
